The lady pictured above in her actual room is my mother, Mrs. Pitts who retired in 1996 after working for the school district over 42 years; an ordained Baptist Deacon; a WWII Army Veteran; and a 1943 graduate of South Carolina State College (at that time); an AKA (Alpha Kappa Alpha) local founding chapter member. She served the local community since 1955 working in the hospital as well as on various boards and just being a good samaritan to those in need. She passed on August 6, 2008.
Unfortunately as so many of our elderly today, she fell and broke her hip in 2000 and it was traumatic for her. She recovered well and was mobile untill 2006. Alzheimer became her diagnosis and it progressed rapidly and into the later stages. I was her primary caregiver. Until 2007 we kept her in her home. She went to a nursing home for skilled care until her passing.
When she was confined to the bed, we were confronted with a lot of challenges for her care while trying to maintain her dignity. It was difficult for me to readily find clothing that was not just sleepware. So I started doing alterations on many clothing items. Then I got a revelation . . . that God wanted me to share my ideas with others and this would be a way to provide income for her care. Consequently, I started a clothing line that could assist the caregiver to better dress the bedridden patient while maintaining some dignity called: "Ogram Elderly EleganceTM". These items are also appropriate for going out in the public but helpful in changing the patient if accidents occur.
So many of the items that have been created has come as a result of needing them for her. The garment pictured on the right, was made to cover the top portion of her body. The house coat was not always as practical to use since she was incontinent. My mother was an active woman of God and did not plan adequately for long term care needs. This was a way that we were able to make additional income to financially provide for the required care. We now will use a portion of all profits to financially support other agencies or organizations that provide services or care for the elderly.

Shoulder Wrap:
Lined or unlined.
Each wrap covers the top portion of the body while the patient is in bed or the wheelchair. This helps retain some dignity for the patient while looking stylish at the same time.
These wraps are an excellent gift for those at home, in nursing homes or in the hospital. Especially if they are in places that they still go out in public. It helps them to feel good about themselves when they look better. I find it helps my mother distinguish between bedtime and daytime depending on the material of the garment. Just this one item has helped tremendously in her personal attitude and it is still a way to bring honor to her.
My mother also sewed and had hundreds of yards of material in storage. Therefore, we are using this supply until all gone. All colors and types are available from polyester to linens.
All of our wraps are handmade by either myself and/or other contracted persons or self-employed persons from this country. We are a "Made in the USA" company.
